INTRODUCTION

Although some cryptids are docile or even passive, others possess the capacity to cause considerable havoc. In order to catalog and evaluate these errors in reality, the Department employs a risk classification system that allows identification of the level of danger each anomaly represents to passersby, exterminators, and researchers. These classifications are not definitive, as an anomaly may change category over time:

RISK LEVEL

Nullified: Nonexistent risk. The cryptid no longer exists or has ceased to display anomalous behaviors or effects. Even so, remains and records are preserved and studied, since a future reactivation can never be ruled out. Survival probability: Total

Safe: Minimal risk. Generally harmless entities and phenomena. They do not display aggressive behavior and, in most cases, flee from almost any stimulus. They possess low intelligence or, in isolated cases, medium intelligence. Survival probability: Very high

Moderate: Low to moderate risk. Not violent by nature, but can become dangerous if they feel threatened, cornered, or provoked. They possess medium intelligence, although in exceptional cases it may be high. In close encounters they can cause minor damage if underestimated. Survival probability: High

Hazardous: Extremely high risk. Extremely territorial and aggressive entities that attack upon detecting any nearby person or animal, without warning or provocation. They require constant surveillance and, in certain situations, immediate evacuation of the affected area. Survival probability: Very low
